I adopted Sophie from Mo/Kan Boxer Rescue in May 2003. She was
around 12 months at that time. She was surrendered to rescue from a local shelter as she did not pass their temperament
test - too shy to "show" well plus dog aggressive. In November 2003, (after 22 weeks of obedience classes as well
as attending doggy daycare one day a week) Sophie passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test. She now does great with
most dogs, cats & people of all ages.

Kado & Yoshi (a kitten I rescued, restored to health & adopted
out) helping me sew.
In July 2005, I received a call from one of the Mo/Kan Boxer Rescue coordinators asking if I
would be willing to foster the 2 year old Boston Terrorist (whoops, I meant Terrier) boy that we had in our program.
He was driving his current foster mom crazy. He had been adopted from a local shelter in Jan 2005, surrendered to rescue
a few months later & by July, I was his 3rd home in 7 months. For me, it was love at first sight. After 2
weeks of Boston Boot Camp, he had become best of friends with Sophie. He's currently a work in progress - besides having
lots to learn, he had several bad habits to unlearn. We are just finishing up his first round of obedience classes &
his biggest accomplishment is that he has stopped trying to pick a fight with other dogs in the class. (He has
ZERO doggie social skills.) He's come a long way but still has a long way to go & we will
be repeating this class in the early part of 2006. My hope is to be able to pass the CGC class sometime next year.

I adopted Obie (blue snowshoe/siamese mix) from KS Siamese Rescue
in March 2003. At only 10 months of age, he was unable to even find a foster home because he was "too affectionate"
& demanded attention. After having just lost my 9 year old Siamese, Obie was exactly what I was looking for.
He is the ultimate lap cat & quite the velcro kitty, following me from room to room. There isn't a cat, dog or person
Obie doesn't like.

After losing both my flamepoint Siamese cats in 2003, I added Kado to my
family in April 2004. Obie was very lonely without his companion (who I lost in November 2003) & I was wanting another
flamepoint. I visited several shelters looking for a male flamepoint (mix) & finally found Kado at Helping Hands
Animal Shelter in Topeka, KS. Obie adopted him immediately & they've been best friends ever since. He's a
lover that insists on being held, cuddled & kissed several times a day.
